Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick urges the state to adopt 'Texas strip' to rebrand the beef industry, saying, "Liberal New York shouldn't get the credit."

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said the Texas Senate would work to change the name of the New York Strip to the “Texas Strip.” The change would apply to the cuts of meat in the Lone Star State only. Patrick attributed the need for the change to Texas-raised cattle and the Texas cattle ranchers.

Patrick says the Texas Senate will file a concurrent resolution to strip New York from the strip and change the name to the "Texas Strip". The Lt. Governor said they would "ask restaurants to change the name of this strip of meat the next time they reprint menus, and grocery stores to do the same". Nothing would be mandated though.

Now, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick says he wants to change the name of a steak. In a post to X on Friday afternoon, Patrick said a resolution will be filed to rename the “New York Strip” to the “Texas Strip” at restaurants and grocery stores here in the Lone Star State.
