California's wildfire season is far from over and Shasta County's Shoe Fire stands out for the efforts to bring it under control. Here's what to know.

Phillips Fire initially started 2:27 p.m. Oct. 16 in Shasta County. It has been burning on private land for 24 hours. Currently, there is no data on the containment status of the fire and the cause has yet to be determined.

The Shoe Fire burning northeast of Shasta Lake in northern California has grown to 400 acres. The vegetation fire is burning on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest in the Sulanharas Creek near the Madrone Campground.

There is a slight chance of rain Tuesday night, but the weather service has issued a fire weather watch that will take effect later this week.

Shoe Fire initially started 1:18 p.m. Oct. 9 in Shasta County. Since its discovery six days ago, it has burned 3,559 acres, an increase of 139 acres since the last update. By Tuesday morning, a crew of 485 firefighters effectively contained 7% of the fire.
