Ryan Hartman forced an opposing player face-first into the ice and now the Minnesota Wild forward has to face the repercussions of his actions with a 10-game suspension. In the waning moments of the second period on Saturday with the Wild trailing the Ottawa Senators 3-0,

Hartman stood at the end of the bench on Saturday, smiling in disbelief, as the refs announced he'd been kicked out of the game. In his meeting with the league, Hartman claimed he was attempting to use his hand to regain his balance using Stutzle for support and that their fall to the ice was accidental.

Ryan Hartman will be out of action for the next month-plus after the NHL Department of Player Safety issued its stiffest punishment of the season. The Wild forward was suspended 10 games for roughing — “using his forearm to violently slam the head of Senators forward Tim Stützle into the ice” — during the Wild’s 6-0 loss Saturday.
