A video of a gas cylinder truck exploding in India's largest city Mumbai was shared on social media in posts falsely linking it to Indian strikes on Pakistan in May 2025, before the rivals agreed to halt the worst violence between the nuclear-armed neighbours in decades.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned Pakistan on Monday that New Delhi would target "terrorist hideouts" across the border again if there were new attacks on India and would not be deterred by what he called Islamabad's "nuclear blackmail".

By complicating Indian efforts to escalate, while offering a path to peace, Ankara effectively used the war to enhance its own status in the post-American world order.
