Erik and Lyle Menendez's resentencing hearing is set for Tuesday in their bid for freedom after spending decades in prison for the 1989 killings of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez.

Jose Menendez and his wife Kitty Menendez, the parents of Erik and Lyle Menendez, were shot and killed in their Beverly Hills mansion in August 1989. In July 1996, the Menendez brothers were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

A judge is expected to rule Friday on the effort to remove Los Angeles County’s top prosecutor from Erik and Lyle Menendez’s bid to reduce their prison sentences after their defense team accused the district attorney of bias.
