The Vancouver Canucks were on the verge of trading J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers on Saturday, only for the deal to fall apart in the final moments. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported during Sportsnet's "Saturday Headlines" segment that the trade discussions had progressed to the point where the Canucks planned to scratch Miller ahead of their game against the Edmonton Oilers.

Head coach Todd Golden has also stayed on the sideline after he was accused of sexual harassment in a Title IX complaint. Kansas City topped Houston 27-19 in a Week 16 regular-season meeting just before Christmas. The Huskies, who were down 35-28 at the half, scraped through the second half but fell short in yet another unranked upset.

Saturday's impressive Canucks victory felt more like a fun last ride for a once-promising core that seems bound for a breakup.

The Canucks have reportedly been trying to trade J.T. Miller for some time now as tensions continue to rise in the team's locker room.

One report unveiled that the Canucks have gotten a trade offer for JT Miller. The Rangers offered Mika Zibanejad, an $8.5 million center having a rough season, for Miller. He started his career with the Rangers, so he may waive to go there. But the Canucks declined the deal so they will hope for a better offer soon.

The Rangers, who began the season as projected Stanley Cup contenders, took a steep slide in November through the end of 2024 and are now unlikely to even make the playoffs. New York is 20-20-2 and sits four points outside of a playoff spot with 40 games remaining.
