DNA testing confirmed last week that human remains found earlier this year inside a Colorado home were that of a 16-year-old Harris County resident who had been feared missing for nearly two decades.

The remains of Amanda Overstreet were discovered when new home owners were clearing out items from a house they had recently purchased.

Months later, on Oct. 11, the Mesa County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of the victim through DNA testing. The remains belonged to Amanda Leariel Overstreet, who was approximately 16 years old when she disappeared in April 2005 in Harris County.
