Manchester United are set to incur a significant financial loss on the sale of underperforming defender Harry Maguire, as the club seeks to offload the England international in the January transfer window.

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to sell Harry Maguire for just £10million in January. Maguire has struggled to retain his place at the heart of Erik ten Hag’s defence in recent seasons. The 31-year-old England centre-back was relieved of the United captaincy last year and saw a move to West Ham fall through.

United’s hierarchy conducted a review of Erik ten Hag’s position at Old Trafford in the summer and had considered replacing the Dutchman before offering him a new contract. Thomas Tuchel is understood to have been one of the managers approached by United before the Premier League side opted to stick with Ten Hag.
