China has granted some exemptions on U.S. imports from its 125% tariffs and is asking businesses to identify goods that could be eligible in the clearest sign yet that Beijing is worried about the economic fallout from its trade war with Washington,

China imposed 125% tariffs on all U.S. imports earlier this month in a tit-for-tat response to the Trump administration’s “reciprocal” tariffs against China.

Despite the tough rhetoric flying between Washington and Beijing, the impact of such elevated tariffs on some industries is prompting both governments to consider concessions to protect their own economies.
