Nick Schmaltz knotted things 1-1 for Utah in the middle frame. The forward circled the puck around the zone before choosing his spot and sniping it from the right circle past Sharks’ goaltender Alexander Georgiev at 5:57. It was Schmaltz’s seventh goal and 30th point of the season.

Friday night, we got a matchup between two of the coldest teams in the NHL. The Utah Hockey Club, who has lost six of their last seven games, hosted the San Jose Sharks, losers in nine of their previous 11 games.

Utah gave the Sharks an early 1-0 lead less than a minute into the game, but it would be the only goal Utah allowed as it limited San Jose shot opportunities for the rest of the game.
