The Kansas City quarterback room grew by one on Friday as the Chiefs re-signed Bailey Zappe to a one-year deal, multiple outlets reported.

After bringing in quarterback Gardner Minshew, the Chiefs are also bringing back a familiar face to their QBs room.

After one season with the Cleveland Browns, quarterback Bailey Zappe is heading back to the Kansas City Chiefs. This is the second quarterback who was in the room in 2024 to depart from the roster this offseason.

Zappe’s signing is technically a reunion, as he spent the first few months of the season on the Chiefs’ practice squad. He didn’t appear in any games in red and gold before he was signed by the Browns after Deshaun Watson ‘s season-ending Achilles injury.

“The Chiefs are re-signing QB Bailey Zappe to a one-year deal, per source. So Kansas City’s QB room now includes Patrick Mahomes, Gardner Minshew and Zappe, the former Patriots draft pick who finished last season in (CLE),” Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported.

On Friday of week one of NFL free agency, the Kansas City Chiefs lost one veteran defender and gained another, formerly of the rival Raiders.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero is reporting that former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bailey Zappe has agreed to a one-year free agent deal with the AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs. The 25-year-old spent the first five weeks of the 2024 season on the Kansas City practice squad before being signed to Cleveland’s active roster for the remainder of the season.
