Must see. It was windy but a unique view over the water and of the surfers. Particularly scenic at sunset. More of just a scenery activity. For shopping, check out the nearby shops across the street. Full review by traveler5005

Where can I rent fishing rods and gear to fish off the pier

There is a let’s go fishing shop on 21 main st. Ca 92648. Google for info. Hope this helps.

Just drive around near the parking lot and down side roads and you’ll find one, and it depends on day of the week

yes,there are restrooms short distance apart all along the beach & the pier & from my experience they are very clean & well maintained.

Can I bring a canopy to the beach? I have small children and want to protect as much from sun.

Yes you can bring Canopies & umbrellas. If you don't have your own you can buy one at Surf City Segway just up Main Street.
