Hi Katie, I think it wold be fine for that. There is a sailing club there as well, so you might be able to hire sailing boats etc and build things in that area. Whilst we were there, there were a number of groups orienteering. There are plenty of good pubs, restaurants, cafe's etc a short drive in various directions. just check the areas out on TA.
